The 3 Days Mount Meru Climb is the best for acclimatization prior to Mount Kilimanjaro climbing; or a spectacular climb for those not competent to climb mount Kilimanjaro. You will climb past wildlife, the landscape is spectacular, and sunrise on the summit has Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. The Mountain is the fifth highest peak in Africa and is the second highest mountain in Tanzania at 4,568m. Mount Meru is located within Arusha National Park, Tanzania’s gem. This prime location gives trekkers the chance to spot some of the wildlife that inhabits the area. Because Mount Meru is located in Arusha National Park, hikers must climb with an armed ranger due to the wide range of wildlife living on the mountain. On the lower slopes of the mountain, hikers are more likely to see elephants, giraffes, and buffalo! On this 3 days mount Meru climb itinerary, you will ascend the trail following the north rim of the volcano’s crater along a dramatic ridge line. After a short time of registration at the Gate your 3 days climb on Mount Meru begin with full armed ranger escorting you. This is because you can encounter wild animals including elephants, zebras, and giraffe, monkeys, antelope, and often elephants along the route. You can have your lunch at the famous “Fig tree”. By mid-afternoon, you will have your first close views of the towering cliffs and the Ash Cone. Wake up around midnight (12:00am)for a light breakfast and start the summit attempt. Trek/climb towards the summit of Mount Meru (4,566 meters) under the starlit sky. Where it takes 1 hour steep climb to RHINO POINT, (3,800m / 12,467ft), then continue climbing along a ridge of ash and rock to reach COBRA POINT (4,350m / 14,272ft). The summit of SOCIALIST PEAK (4,566 m) is an hour further on a steep path. Depending on your speed, you can enjoy sunrise at Cobra Point or the summit. Reach the summit and marvel at the spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape. The views are stunning: the cliffs of the Crater rim, the Ash Cone rising from the crater floor, Kilimanjaro floating on the morning clouds, and the Rift Valley.
